Esteemed Delegates,
Polish micronationalists,
The Holy Empire of Réunion is a micronation which was established in 1996, and which has become independent in August, 1997. Our website is at http://www.reuniao.org and our Imperial Chancellery (office in charge of our foreign affairs) can be visited at http://www.reuniao.org/chancelaria.
We have come out a period of Partial Isolationism very recently, and our new Diplomatic Policy is oriented towards the cooperation and interaction with all the micronational linguistic sectors, specially the POLISH and GERMAN ones. We really believe that micronationalism as a movement will gain strength and fame with the full interaction and cooperation amongst all its linguistic sectors. Isolationism is, in our thought, a stupid policy.
Réunion has 242 citizens as of now, as you can all see at our mailing list CHANDON, at http://www.reuniao.org/listachandon. We are a modelist micronation, that is to say, we mix some fantasious characteristics with real world situations. Also, we have become much more than a virtual nation, as you can see from the pictures of last saturday annual meeting of Réunian citizens from Brazil and Portugal, at http://www.reuniao.org/photos/megaencontro/santarelli and http://www.reuniao.org/photos. We are also a notable micronation, as you can see from all the newspapers and magazines around the world which have mentioned or pictured us within their pages, at http://www.reuniao.org/media.
We really believe that we must play our part on bringing our peoples and sectors together. And for that we apply for membership at the OPM. We have the difficulty with the language, but we have our hearts that have great intentions, and our curriculum to speak for us, and also, the friendship of great polish micronationalists that are present here.
We need your support to join OPM as a first effort to contact all the polish micronations and to become a liaison from the anglophone/lusophone world to the polish world.
Also, we are aware that it may be needed to add polish as an official language of our country, and that can be done, if necessary.
We have a lot to contribute, BUT much more to learn from all of you.
This is why I hereby ask for your support.

I'm happy to see you here. I believe that our cooperation will be favourable for both sides. Lets think about it.
My first question to you is: how is your Government formed? When I say "Government", I mean both the Parliament and the Executive branch.
And second. Most of our micronations are constitutional monarchies. It's mainly because most of all believe, that a monarchy means stability, necessary in the "mico-world". What do you think about that?

Réunion is what we call a " Potentially Absolute Monarchy ". That means that the Monarch has full powers that may be used at his/hers discretion, however ordinarily there are government positions and officials that are responsible for the government.
Ordinarily, the Monarch's office (headed by Himself and his Lord Protector) is in charge of the Diplomatic Representation, Nobility, Geography and the sanction of constitutional amendments. Extraordinarily, he/she can do about everything. However he refrains from acting unless there is a great reason to act.
Réunion uses a Bicameral Parliamentary System, composed of an Imperial Council with 12 appointed members, that deal only with constitutional matters, and a People's Assembly of 11 elected members, that decide on all government matters.
The Executive Branch is represented by the office of the Premier. The Premier is an elected official, elected by the People's Assembly every 3 months. He is in charge of all the government affairs.
The Judicial Branch is represented by the Higher Courts, which is headed by the Imperial Chief Judge. There are other judges that are below him, and he receives and judges all appeals.

We agree that monarchy is the most stable system of government for a micronation.

The Principality of Sarmatia finds the efforts from Holy Empire of Réunion most refreshing. But Principality did not share such optimistic appraisal of the situation. We highly value the idea of cooperation and interaction, conscious that acknowledging our cultures and experience will bring us mutual benefit.
Nevertheless we must be full of concern about the future, especially language obstacles. Isolationism is stupid policy, yes, but recklessness in the decisions that will affect our future stance in great degree is not so wise also.
We should be aware of all consequences, enthusiasm is not good advisor.
As voice of Principality in this chamber, I think that we must to know each other better before we definitely declare our support for this case. Even if it will take some time, we don't need any haste

The Holy Empire of Réunion has not established any virtual religions. However, we do recognize the " Igreja Católica Micronacional " (Micronational Holy Catholic Church) as a symbol of the Holy Catholic faith in micronationalism.
In the lusophone micronational world there is the ICM, which is formed by seminarists and a few real priests, and also some catholic citizens who are not priests. They virtually represent the Catholic Church in Réunion, and are recognized as such by the Réunian state.
However, we are perfectly aware that they are a mere symbol, and are not an official part of the Catholic Church. They have Micro-Bishops and Micro-Cardinals and also Micro-Priests in their Church simulation.
The ICM was born in 1998 and has been headquartered in Réunion since 2004, after Réunion annexed the "Republic of Mariana", which used to be their headquarters until then.
Réunion ensures freedom of Religion, and although our official religion is Romam Catholic we have laws punishing any kind of discrimination.
