Rzeczpospolita means Republic, iontz. Latin "Res Publica" is in polish "Rzecz wspólna" or "Rzecz pospolita" ;)
Rzeczpospolita obojga narodów (Commonwealth of the Both Nations) was name of the polish-lithuanian country from 1569 to 1795. It was a republic, too... |

They called it "republic" (or "commonwealth") but it was a monarchy, so we can't say "Republic of the Both Nation".
I think "commonwealth" is really a better word. |
