Uroczystości rozpoczęły się w Bazylice Laterańskiej o godz. 19 dnia 12 lipca. Szambelan Patriarszy rozpoczął uroczystość narracją, po której legat patriarszy kardynał Marco Sforza (z woli samego Patriarchy przebywającego obecnie w rodzinnym księstwie Firenze na wakacjach) potwierdził uroczyście nadanie szaty biskupiej. Po odśpiewaniu Te Deum, Jego Ekscelencja biskup von Pyongyang podziękował wszystkim gościom, a także Patriarsze i jego legatowi. Uroczystości zakończyły się ok. godziny 22.
